Note - the head bail doors should be set to allow the animal's head to fit through but not its shoulders, this is a gap of about 300mm.\u003C/li>\u003Cli>Fit the belly straps one at a time D. Slip each strap under the animal and attach it to its winch with the clips. Wind up each winch to take the weight of the animal.\u003C/li>\u003Cli>The animal is now restrained and ready to process further as required.\u003C/li>\u003C/ul>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Important note: do not lift the animal with the belly straps.\u003C/strong>\u003C/p>\u003Ch4>\u003Cstrong>Fitting the belly strap\u003C/strong>\u003C/h4>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>Before letting an animal into the crush unwind the belly strap and lay it across the floor. Doing this prevents the operator from having to reach under the animal to get it.\u003C/li>\u003Cli>Once an animal is head bailed in the crush attach the belly strap to the winch.\u003C/li>\u003Cli>Tension the belly straps up close to and fit snugly to, the animal's belly this will help ensure the animal does not go down. Don’t tension the belly straps up too tight as this will encourage the animal to kick and/or slump down onto the straps.\u003C/li>\u003Cli>Belly straps only ratchet up when wound clockwise.\u003C/li>\u003Cli>Belly straps are designed to take a portion of the animal's weight only so that extra stress is not placed on the standing limbs while one leg is raised to be worked on.
